Dr. Jennifer Matthews completed her plastic surgery residency at the University of Calgary in 2013. She then completed fellowship training in microsurgery at McMaster University, focusing on complex reconstruction for breast cancer, head & neck cancer, and trauma patients.
Dr. Matthews is dedicated to guiding patients through their surgical care with education, honesty, and compassion. She is passionate about improving patients’ lives and approaches each patient’s unique needs with a commitment to excellence.
Dr. Matthews has a diverse practice that covers most areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Her reconstructive practice is focused on breast, head and neck reconstruction. Dr. Matthews’s cosmetic surgery interests are breast and body procedures.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Matthews is an active member of the Department of Surgery, acting as the Patient Concerns Chair and member of the peer support team. In addition, she plays a significant role in teaching microsurgery skills to residents and fellows. Her research focuses on improving the outcome and quality of life of patients following cancer treatments.
